As the only professional large-scaled auto expo in Yunnan, China (Kunming) International Automobile Expo has been held successfully in the past 20 sessions since its inception in 2000. As a leading commercial exhibition in Yunnan and a leading professional auto expo in China, it is crowned as “the best auto expo in Yunnan”. In 2010, the expo was honored as “China’s Top 10 Branded Auto Shows” by the Academy of Commerce under the Ministry of Commerce, and is now an alt-A-level auto expo in China. Yunnan features the most minorities in China, and the existence of multiple nationalities cradles the splendid and colorful ethnic culture. In order to display the rich and colorful ethnic and folk culture of Yunnan, facilitate the trading and exchange of ethnic and folk crafts, pass down and develop the unique ethnic culture of Yunnan, the expo held its first session in Kunming International Convention and Exhibition Center in 2007. The expo will set a master craftsman area, a painting and calligraphy art area, an exhibition area for handicrafts made by the disabled, especially to showcase the master craftsmen, intangible cultural heritages, woodcarving boutiques and special culture of various counties and districts around Kunming. The purpose is to fully demonstrate the image of the ethnic and folk culture industry from different places. In order to enrich the contents of Lancang-Mekong cooperation, Yunnan Lancang-Mekong Subregional Economic Cooperation Coordination Team Office, China Council for Promotion of International Trade Yunnan Sub-council, and Yunnan Metropolitan Construction Investment Group has initiated the China Kunming Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Exposition in medium and late November every year since 2016. The exposition is composed of exhibitions and trades, the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Dianchi Forum, and the investment fair. Since its creation, the exposition has received concerns, recognitions and supports from the Department of Asian Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, China Council for Promotion of International Trade, ASEAN-China Center, Asian Financial Cooperation Association and other organizations. Governments from the nations around the Mekong River Basin also sent delegations to participate. This annual exposition has set up a preliminary multi-layered and broad exchange and cooperation platform under the Lancang-Mekong cooperation framework. The exposition has been rated by the Department of Commerce of Yunnan Province as an important project for the cooperation with Lancang-Mekong nations in convention and exhibition, and nominated by China Council for Promotion of International Trade a key exhibition project of the “one exhibition in one province” program.
